Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly Laszlo Kover said he has accepted an official invitation by Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and will travel to Iran in the near future.

In a meeting with new Iranian Ambassador in Budapest, Gholamali Rajabi Yazdi, Kover also said that “expanding parliamentarian relations between Tehran and Budapest will prepare the ground for collaboration in other areas.”

Kover pointed to a large number of Iranian students in Hungarian universities and said this would pave the way for an improvement in cultural ties between the two nations, Fars News Agency reported.

The Hungarian official said by implementing the sisterhood agreements between the two capital cities, Tehran and Budapest respectively, as well as the cities of Jaszbereny in Hungary and Yazd in Iran, both nations will be able to become familiar with each other in an effective way.

Yazdi pointed to last year’s visit by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Tehran and said efforts need to be focused on the implementation t of cooperation agreements signed during the trip.
