A top security official warned that the arrogant world powers have been sowing discord among Muslim nations to divert attention from Israel’s crimes.
“Hegemonic powers are making attempts to create divisions in the Muslim world to distract public opinion from the main enemy that is the Zionist regime,” Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Thursday, Press TV reported.
The official met senior clerics in the holy city of Qom to brief them on Iran’s measures to guarantee security in the face of terrorism on its doorstep.
“Thanks to the valuable guidelines of the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iran has managed to maintain security in and beyond its borders,” Shamkhani said during a meeting with Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem-Shirazi.
The top cleric described takfiri terrorism as a threat to the security of all Muslim nations and humanity, saying Saudi Arabia is “the birthplace and promoter of takfiri ideology.”
The self-styled Islamic State and other takfiri groups that accuse the Muslims that do not follow their extreme interpretation of Islam of apostasy are inspired by Wahhabism, which is widely preached in the Saudi kingdom and promoted worldwide by Riyadh.
