French Senate President Gerard Larcher received a parliamentary delegation that has traveled to Paris to discuss bilateral relations and international developments.

In the meeting on Wednesday, Larcher said that with the removal of international sanctions on Iran under its July 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, the two countries should support their private sectors’ efforts to engage with each other and remove banking problems hindering their close cooperation.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the principlist chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, is heading the Iranian delegation, ISNA reported.

He said the trip by President Hassan Rouhani to France in January, in which major economic agreements were signed, has paved the way for taking incremental steps to improve cooperation, stressing the need for early implementation of those agreements.

The prospects of resolving the Syrian conflict, presidential deadlock in Lebanon, latest efforts to defeat the self-styled Islamic State terrorist group in Iraq and the Saudi military campaign in the impoverished Arab country, Yemen, were also discussed in the meeting.
