European Diplomats Meet FM

Diplomats and politicians from Europe, including the European commissioner for humanitarian aid, held meetings with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran to discuss bilateral and regional issues. In one of the meetings on Monday, the foreign minister and Karlheinz Kopf, the joint acting president of Austria and the second president of the European country’s National Council, discussed a range of issues, including Tehran-Vienna ties, collaboration between Iran and the European Union, as well as the latest regional and international developments, Tasnim News Agency reported. In a separate meeting on the same day, Greek Ambassador in Tehran Georgios Ayfantis and Zarif talked about relations between Tehran and Athens. Zarif also met European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides. Highlighting Iran’s call for the enforcement of a lasting ceasefire in crisis-hit Syria, the Iranian minister urged efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Syrian people. The EU official hailed Iran for hosting Afghan refugees and providing Syria with humanitarian aid. Stylianides also highlighted Iran’s “key and positive” regional and international role.
