Defense Power Emboldens Diplomats

Head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization Lieutenant General Gholamreza Jalali has called for constant efforts to boost defense capabilities, describing them as the factor encouraging Iranian diplomats in political negotiations. “Iranian politicians sitting at the negotiating table with foreign parties are emboldened by the steadfast defense power,” Jalali said in an academic conference in Tehran on Sunday, Tasnim News Agency reported. “The fact that our enemies rule out ground attacks against us does not result from the political smiles [of Iranian diplomats], but from the strong military defense on the ground,” he said. The commander also referred to the display of underground missile facilities of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, stressing the need for showcasing part of the country’s military capabilities to “shatter the enemy’s illusions”. However, Jalali noted that part of Iran’s military capabilities should be kept in the dark to serve as a surprise element.
