Iranian Border Guards Commander Lieutenant General Qasem Rezaei and his Iraqi counterpart, Brigadier General Hamed Abdullah Ebrahim, in a meeting in Baghdad on Monday underlined the need for expansion of mutual cooperation. During the Sixth Annual Meeting of Iran-Iraq Border Guards Commanders in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the two generals explored avenues for bolstering bilateral ties in the field of border security, Fars News Agency reported. Rezaei and Ebrahim also signed a memorandum of understanding at the end of the meeting. In January, Iranian Defense Minister Lieutenant General Hossein Dehqan assured Iraq of Iran’s continued assistance to the Iraqi government and nation for their ultimate victory against terrorists operating in vast tracts of the country. Dehqan made the statements in a meeting with Iraqi National Security Adviser Falih al-Fayyadh in Tehran. He described unity among Shias, Sunnis and other groups in Iraq as a great achievement that should be promoted until the final victory over terrorist groups.
