A naval flotilla carrying the message of peace and friendship left the northern port city of Bandar Anzali on Sunday for Baku in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Commander of Iran's fourth naval zone said the dispatch of the Iranian flotilla to Azerbaijan is taking place for the first time, which is an indication of new developments in maritime cooperation in the Caspian Sea region, IRNA reported. Rear Admiral Afshin Rezaei Haddad said sending the flotilla with messages of peace and friendship indicates that the Caspian Sea is secure and mutual interaction has been given the top priority in this region. The commander noted that the presence of Iranian ships in the Caspian Sea littoral states reflects Iran's belief that the ground is well prepared for establishing peace and friendship, and holding talks on regional issues. "The flotilla is on the way to Baku to show that it is the carrier of message of peace from the Iranian nation to their Muslim brothers in Azerbaijan," he added.
