President Hassan Rouhani offered condolences to the Thai people and government on the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. In a letter to Thailand's Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Saturday, Rouhani, on behalf of the Iranian government and nation, expressed condolences to the Thai people, government and royal family over the death of King Bhumibol, Tasnim News Agency reported.  "The Islamic Republic of Iran always regards the Kingdom of Thailand as an age-old friend and partner, and hopes to see expansion of bilateral relations in all fields," the president said. Thailand's King Bhumibol, the world's longest-reigning monarch who was considered a father figure by the nation, died in hospital on Thursday at the age of 88.
