Beijing Welcomes Wide-Ranging Relations

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao stressed that Tehran-Beijing cooperation has entered a new chapter, noting that China welcomes expansion of cooperation with Iran in all fields. He made the statement in a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Bangkok on Sunday on the sidelines of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit, Fars News Agency reported. Li referred to the Chinese president's recent visit to Tehran and said, "After the visit, the level of relations between the two countries has been elevated to a strategic level and agreements between the two countries are also being implemented," he said. Rouhani underlined the need for Beijing to play a more active role in the resolution of conflicts in the Middle East. "China can play an important role in restoring peace and stability in the region, especially in extending the humanitarian aid to the oppressed regional people, including in Yemen and Syria," he said.
