Iran’s Foreign Ministry paid tribute to the Palestinian people on the 16th anniversary of the Second Palestinian Intifada (uprising) for their remarkable resistance to Israeli crimes, stressing that the Zionist regime’s atrocious policies against Palestine will get nowhere.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Sunday commemorated the anniversary of Al-Aqsa Intifada, which left more than 3,000 Palestinians dead, Tasnim News Agency reported.

He highlighted the international community’s disgust at Israeli atrocities, including the violation of the rights of Palestinians, Judaization of Beit-ul-Moqaddas, desecration and destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, expansion of settlement homes, as well as the killing, imprisonment and torture of people.

Qasemi noted that the Palestinian people’s resistance and their steadfastness in defending their principles will thwart Israeli attempts to further violate their rights.

The Second Intifada began in September 2000 following a visit by Israel’s then leader, Ariel Sharon, to Haram al-Sharif in Beit-ul-Moqaddas in a move denounced by Palestinians as highly provocative.
