Syrian Parliament Speaker Hadieh Khalaf Abbas will pay an official visit to Iran in the near future, an advisor to the Majlis speaker announced on Sunday. "Ms. Khalaf Abbas is the first female parliament speaker invited by her Iranian counterpart, Ali Larijani, to visit Iran," Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was quoted as saying by Fars News Agency. Amir-Abdollahian said the top Syrian lawmaker will discuss parliamentary and political ties with Iranian officials during her visit. Last Monday, Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in a meeting in Damascus discussed bilateral relations and the latest political developments in Syria. The two sides also underlined the need for finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis. Ansari reiterated that Iran is determined to continue its support for Syria in its ongoing war on terrorism.
