Iran’s Ambassador to Turkey Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to act constructively and contribute to peace and stability in the Muslim world without being influenced by any party.

In a meeting with an OIC official in Turkey, the Iranian envoy said OIC needs to play a constructive role without any bias or being influenced by certain countries, Tasnim News Agency reported.

Taherian noted that OIC should try to fulfill its duty of promoting peace and stability in Muslim nations and boosting constructive cooperation.

OIC is the second largest inter-governmental organization after the United Nations, which has 57 member states spread over four continents.

The organization has been established to safeguard the interests of Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony among various people of the world.

OIC was founded after a summit in Rabat, Morocco, in September 1969 as a result of an arson attack Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Beit-ul-Moqaddas.
