Kuwait Seeks Friendly Ties

Kuwait's prime minister said at the UN that the Persian Gulf monarchy seeks friendly ties with Iran based on "mutual respect". "I look forward to relations of friendship and cooperation with Iran with mutual respect and understanding," Sheikh Jaber Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah said before the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday. The Kuwaiti premier called for "constructive dialogue" between the two sides based on international regulations and principles of "good neighborly" relations, Kuwait News Agency reported. It is important to create "the appropriate conditions for any constructive dialogue to take place in accordance with the rules and norms of international law relating to the principle of good neighborly relations and respect [for] sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs."
