President Hassan Rouhani congratulated the heads of Muslim countries on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, one of the biggest religious festivals of Muslims, and called for stronger unity in the Muslim world. In separate congratulatory messages to leaders of Muslim countries on Sunday, Rouhani hoped that Muslims would strengthen cooperation and rapport to portray the true image of Islam, which is based on mercy and justice, Tasnim News Agency reported. The president called for efforts to consolidate unity among Muslims and counter division and hostility in the Muslim world. Eid al-Adha is a grand Islamic festival celebrated annually around the world and an official holiday in Muslim countries. In the Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha occurs on the 10th day of the Dhu al-Hijjah and is also the third day of the major hajj pilgrimage in Mecca. In Iran, Eid al-Adha is a public holiday, which this year fell on Monday.
