A lawmaker said members of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission plan to visit nuclear facilities in the central provinces of Markazi and Isfahan.

Speaking to Tasnim News Agency, Mojtaba Zonnour, the head of the commission’s Nuclear Committee, said the parliamentarians will visit the Arak heavy water reactor and Isfahan’s Uranium Conversion Facility.

He said the trip to Arak will be made within the next two weeks.

The visit to the nuclear sites is part of efforts by the parliament to prepare a six-month report on the process of implementing the July 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Last month, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the parliamentary commission, had said the panel was drafting the report and would finalize it in the coming weeks.

According to a law that requires the administration to safeguard the nation’s achievements and nuclear rights, the parliamentary commission has been tasked with monitoring “the proper implementation” of JCPOA. It is also required to submit a report on the issue to the presiding board of parliament every six months.
