The three islands of the Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa are inseparable parts of Iranian territory and Arab officials of the region cannot change history by their meddlesome remarks and media stunts, says Asghar Salimi,

a member of parliament,

The lawmaker reiterated that the Islamic Republic does not allow any state to interfere in its internal affair, and “all evidence points to the fact that the islands have always belonged to Iran,” ICANA reported. The three islands have always been part of Iran historically, the proof of which can be found in and corroborated by historical, legal and geographical documents in Iran and other parts of the world. However, the United Arab Emirates has repeatedly laid baseless claims to the islands in the strategic Persian Gulf.

“Arabs have no legal right to claim sovereignty over the islands,” the MP said.

Salimi was responding to recent remarks by the Arab League chief, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in which he called on Iran to end its alleged “occupation” of the islands that he claimed belong to the UAE.
