Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani warned unidentified western countries about the consequences of supporting the banned Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization, saying the West will suffer as result of the groups’ terror in the future.

“[MKO] has the darkest record of terrorist acts in the world but the westerners support the sinister group,” Larijani said in a speech in Qom on Monday, Tasnim News Agency reported.

The parliament speaker pointed to the MKO’s brutality against the Iranian people, saying it spared no effort to harm the Islamic establishment. “But their plots were foiled.”

In a meeting of the group on July 9 in Paris, senior diplomats from some Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, attended and made unusually undiplomatic, hostile and crude remarks against Iran.

MKO fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq and was given arms, refuge, money and strong support by the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

They fought on Saddam’s side during the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq War in which an estimated one million people died on both sides. The group was also involved in the bloody repression of Shia Muslims in southern Iraq in 1991 and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.

The group is also notorious for killing many Iranian civilians and officials after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
