Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Afghan counterpart, Salahuddin Rabbani, discussed ways to expand bilateral relations.  In a meeting in Tehran on Monday, Zarif said Iran attaches great importance to its relations with Afghanistan, IRNA reported. “Your progress, stability and security are those of us”, he said, stressing the need for more efforts to develop security cooperation between the two neighbors.  Pointing to the spread of terrorism in the region, the top diplomat denounced double standards on terrorism. “We don’t believe in good and bad terrorism. All extremist and takfiri groups should be dealt with.” Rabbani called for closer economic collaboration, saying the development of the Chabahar port, in southeast Iran, will be milestone in improving the Afghan economy.

The two sides also discussed management of shared water resources, Afghan refugees in Iran, prisoner exchange and transport cooperation.
