Iran's intelligence minister said security officers have scrutinized more than 1,500 young men at risk of being recruited by the self-styled Islamic State militant group. Tasnim News Agency on Friday also quoted Seyyed Mahmoud Ali as saying that his department summoned them for questioning and detained or talked with the young people to stop them from joining IS. Alavi did not elaborate, but said his officers are closely watching those who show an inclination toward joining the extremist group fighting in Iraq and Syria. In recent months, security forces have killed dozens of extremist terrorists in clashes in the country's western regions. In June, Iran announced breaking up one of the "biggest terrorist plots" on its soil by extremists planning bombings in Tehran and elsewhere.
