Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri is to arrive in Tehran today for talks with high-ranking officials, including his counterpart, Ali Larijani, as well as Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

A visit to Turkey is also on Jabouri’s agenda. Officials of the three countries are to discuss collaboration on issues affecting the region, Iraq in particular, including the operation to liberate Iraq’s Nineveh Province, which is now largely under the control of the self-styled Islamic State terrorist group, IRNA reported. “The operation to liberate the city of Mosul, the capital city of Nineveh Governorate, will begin in the near future and calls for further coordination between Iraq and its neighbors, particularly Iran and Turkey,” Jabouri’s office said in a statement. As the head of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Jabouri will also address issues related to the union in his negotiations with Iranian and Turkish officials. Alaeddin Boroujerdi the chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, will officially receive Jabouri on his arrival at Mehrabad International Airport.
