Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his visiting Venezuelan counterpart, Delcy Rodriguez, held talks on a range of issues, including ways of promoting ties between the Islamic Republic and the Latin American country.

In the meeting held in Tehran on Monday, Zarif pointed to his planned visit to Latin American countries, including Venezuela, in the coming days and said Tehran is willing to enhance ties with Caracas in all areas, Tasnim News Agency reported.

He said a high-ranking economic delegation comprising government and private sector officials will accompany him in the upcoming visit.

The Iranian foreign minister hoped that the trip would lead to the development of bilateral relations in various spheres, banking and energy in particular, considering that representatives from the two sectors in Iran will be accompanying him in the trip.

Rodriguez welcomed the scheduled visit to Venezuela by Zarif and called for expansion of bilateral ties in all areas.
