American, Saudi Presence in Syria Illegal

A senior foreign policy adviser to the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the presence of United States and Saudi Arabia in Syrian territory is illegal.
“The presence in Syria by such countries as the US and Saudi Arabia, which intervene there without the Syrian government’s consent, is illegal,” Ali Akbar Velayati said on Saturday, Press TV reported.
“Making decisions as to Syria’s future is up to the Syrian people. Others are not allowed to meddle in Syria’s internal affairs.”
Saudi Arabia is widely reported to be providing lavish financial and ideological support for militants operating in Syria. Riyadh also backs the so-called High Negotiations Committee, which is an opposition group. HNC has so far turned down two UN proposals aimed at resolving the Syrian conflict.
The US has also been leading a number of countries in a bombing campaign with the declared goal of eradicating the self-styled Islamic State terrorist group in Syria since 2014.
