Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Political Affairs and International Security Hamid Baeidinejad announced that Iran is holding negotiations with European countries to turn the Fordo uranium enrichment plant in central Iran into a modern center for nuclear physics research.

“It has been decided to turn Fordo into a modern center for research and development on nuclear physics through international cooperation [under the terms of the July 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and major powers],” Baeidinejad said on Sunday, Fars News Agency reported.

The official further said preliminary talks are underway with the world’s advanced countries, including Europeans, in this regard, hoping that executive works to turn Fordo into a modern nuclear physics research center would start soon.

Referring to Iran’s plans to produce isotopes using hundreds of modern centrifuges in cooperation with Russia, Baeidinejad said with the production of these isotopes at Fordo, Iran will not only become needless of their import, but can also export the material.
