An informed source denied reports by the Israeli daily Haaretz that the commander of Iran’s Basij volunteer force, Lieutenant General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, was wounded by Israeli forces or terrorists during a publicized visit this weekend to southern Syria. “The Basij commander is fully healthy and doing his daily jobs. The spread of such rumors is the result of the Zionists’ anger after photos [that appeared on the media] showed General Naqdi’s powerful presence in Quneitra and the Golan Heights,” the source told Fars News Agency on Sunday. Naqdi’s pictures were released by the Iranian media on Wednesday, one of which shows him surveying the area with binoculars and the other has him inspecting destruction at sites that reports said were part of a visit to assess and inspect the ground realities. Also, reports said Naqdi met officers in charge of units belonging to the Syrian Army and the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance group that have been confronting the terrorists in Syria.
