Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi has traveled to Moscow to hold consultations with Russian officials on bilateral ties.

The Fars news agency reported on Friday that Kamalvandi has met with Director of Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) Sergey Kiriyenko.

Cooperation between Tehran and Moscow will be in the interests of the two counties and will help promote peace and security in the region, the Iranian official said during the meeting.

Kiriyenko said Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, are determined to increase nuclear cooperation with Iran.

He described Tehran-Moscow relations as “strategic” and said increased bilateral cooperation will be to the benefit of the two countries and the region.
