US Senator Lindsey Graham said in an interview with the Washington Post on Monday that he planned to move forward with the Iran Nuclear Negotiations Act of 2014, which he co-authored with other GOP senators including Bob Corker and John McCain, to require an “up or down vote” on a final Iran deal, the deadline for which is November 24. The Post commented that while a vote on the floor in all likelihood will have to wait, beginning the discussion before the November 24 deadline may pressure the Obama administration to adopt tougher policy on Iran’s nuclear program. Graham also said the new US Senate, which will be under control of Republicans, will “come in handy” in January when he expects them to take a firmer line on Iran.
