The fourth meeting of the Joint Commission of Iran and world powers on Tuesday was expected to discuss obstacles to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Tehran's nuclear program, a senior diplomat said.
"Obstacles to the removal of sanctions will be discussed in the meeting," Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi also told reporters ahead of the session in Vienna, Austria, IRNA reported.
"We will try to find solutions to problems related to the implementation of the deal, including the restoration of Iran's banking ties," he said.
All nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran were terminated after Tehran and P5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain and France, plus Germany) reached the nuclear agreement last July and started implementing it in January.
"Misunderstanding about the technical aspects of implementation, between us and the International Atomic Energy Agency or P5+1, will also be discussed in the meeting," said the senior nuclear negotiator.
The Iranian delegation arrived in Vienna on Tuesday morning and the meeting began around midday.
Araqchi said the delegation was to hold separate meetings with the French, German and US delegations after the commission's meeting.
The first two sessions were held last October and December, before the deal went into effect.
The third meeting was held in the Austrian capital on April 22, in which decisions were made to establish a working group for the removal of sanctions and Iran's heavy water sales.
Earlier, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Vladimir Voronkov, said a number of issues would be discussed during the upcoming meeting.
"These are the difficulties with enriched uranium accumulated during the enrichment in the pipes and other devices. What has been discovered exceeds the allowed limit of 300 kilograms. And the second issue is heavy water," he told Russian news agency TASS on Thursday.
"I think the Chinese and American sides will brief the participants on the progress in the planned conversion of the Arak nuclear facility into a light-water reactor. For our part, we will tell them how the Fordo project is proceeding."
As part of JCPOA, the Fordo nuclear facility should be converted into a nuclear, physics and technology center.
