The Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission will examine the second quarterly report submitted by the Foreign Ministry on the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, as the July 2015 nuclear deal with major powers is formally known. Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, the parliamentary panel’s spokesperson, said the lawmakers are going to hold a meeting this week to discuss the report, Tasnim News Agency reported on Sunday. He noted that some diplomats who were engaged in nuclear negotiations with the major powers will attend the meeting. The report contains information about different aspects of JCPOA, including Iran’s nuclear activities after the accord, removal of sanctions and nuclear cooperation with other countries. The report underscores that the legal and political bases of the anti-Iran sanctions have been removed but many sanctions have been terminated only on paper. In practice, it says, “a significant breakthrough” has been made over the past three months, highlighting the release of some of the Central Bank of Iran’s frozen assets and a remarkable improvement in interactions with foreign banks.
