Head of the Center for Strategic Research of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati arrived in Singapore on Sunday to take part in the third South Asian Diaspora Convention. Velayati, who is also an adviser to the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on international affairs, was received by local authorities, officials in charge of holding the convention and Iran’s ambassador to Singapore, Javad Ansari, upon arrival in the South Asian country, Tasnim News Agency reported. The adviser was scheduled to address the convention and meet senior Singaporean officials. The Third South Asian Diaspora Convention on July 18-19 is attended by over 50 of the region’s leading policymakers and business leaders, academics and civil society leaders, according to a notice on the event’s website. Participants are discussing critical topics in business, economy and policy that would affect the region’s future and its role in global geopolitics in the 21st century. Following his stay in Singapore, Velayati will leave for Kuala Lumpur to hold talks with Malaysia’s senior officials.
