Statistical Center of Iran's Director Adel Azar was nominated by the Majlis Planning, Budget and Audit Commission to preside over the Supreme Audit Court of Iran (SAC), a member of the parliamentary panel announced on Sunday.
"Adel Azar was selected by the commission as the nominee for the post of Supreme Audit Court of Iran's director and has been introduced to the Majlis," Gholamali Jafarzadeh Imenabadi told IRNA.
He said candidates for the post, including former lawmaker and economist Elyas Naderan, defended their plans in a recent meeting of the commission, adding that after examining their records and plans, members of the commission voted unanimously to introduce Azar to the parliament for final approval.
SAC is a government agency overseen by the parliament. The state body is tasked with controlling the financial operations of all ministries, institutions, government companies and organizations that benefit from the state budget in any manner.
