The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran is holding negotiations with several countries to sell its heavy water supplies, AEOI Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi announced. "Heavy water has different applications, including in power plants and research, and we have made consultations with three to four countries to sell our heavy water to have alternative buyers if the Americans cannot buy it anymore, in view of a [possible] ban by the US Congress on the purchase of this product from Iran," Kamalvandi said on Saturday, Fars News Agency reported. Iran delivered a 32-ton cargo of heavy water to the US a few days ago, before the passage of a bill by the US House of Representatives to ban heavy water purchases from Iran (which needs the US Senate's approval), he said, stressing that "we delivered the cargo after receiving the money."
