The commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base announced that a domestically developed state-of-the-art radar system capable of tracking micro air vehicles will be installed in the northeastern province of North Khorasan soon. In remarks released on Saturday, Lieutenant General Farzad Esmaeili highlighted Iran’s self-sufficiency in manufacturing strategic radar systems, saying that the air defense base is willing to use these radar systems, Tasnim News Agency reported.  Esmaeili stressed that his forces convey a “message of peace” for friendly countries and “a message of hell” for hostile countries. A micro air vehicle, or micro aerial vehicle, is a class of miniature UAVs that has a size restriction and may be autonomous. Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces largely self-sufficient in the arms sphere.
