3 Jurists Elected to Vetting Body

Parliamentarians voted on Wednesday to elect three jurists, namely Abbasali Kadkhodaei, Mohammad Reza Alizadeh and Seyyed Fazlollah Mousavi, to the Guardians Council for a three-year term. The council is composed of six jurisprudents of Islamic law appointed by the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and six jurists nominated by the judiciary and elected by the parliament, IRNA reported. The top vetting body is charged with interpreting the Iranian Constitution, supervising elections and approving candidates for presidential, parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections.
