Zarif, China’s Wang Discuss Ties

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, exchanged views about ways to boost cooperation between the two countries in the implementation of the July 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and world powers.
In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Zarif said Iran attaches importance to the results produced by Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to Tehran.
He noted that the Iranian side is cognizant of the efforts that the Chinese side has made to facilitate the Arak heavy water reactor’s redesign and reconstruction as part of the historic nuclear agreement, Xinhua reported.
Wang said both sides have made positive progress in implementing the agreements reached by the two heads of governments when the Chinese president visited Iran in January.
Since the nuclear deal was clinched in July 2015, Iran and the six major powers (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) have upheld their commitments and the implementation of the agreement goes smoothly, Wang noted.
