Economic Ties to Russia Should Improve

The Iranian ambassador in Moscow has called for efforts to enhance economic relations with Russia in tandem with and proportional to political interaction. Trade between Iran and Russia is not compatible with the level of political relations and should improve, Mahdi Sanaei said in an address to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday, Russian News Agency TASS reported. "We are developing strong ties at all levels and in all spheres.  Russia-Iran relations have a strategic nature."
The commercial ties lag behind the high level of political dialogue, he noted. "We need to work harder to upgrade our trade relations."
