Azeri MPs' Remarks Unacceptable

Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakaeen expressed regret over remarks by some Azeri lawmakers against a recent visit to Iran by Armenia's foreign minister. Such "unconventional" statements do not help develop Tehran-Baku relations, he said on Wednesday, according to Tasnim News Agency.  Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian visited Iran earlier this month and met with senior officials. On Tuesday, a number of Azeri lawmakers criticized Iran during the debate on a draft law on a cooperation deal between the two neighboring countries. They voiced discontent at the growing ties between Iran and Armenia, as was demonstrated by Nalbandian's visit. Iran has cordial ties to both Azerbaijan and Armenia.
