Commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Lieutenant General Farzad Esmaeili highlighted the Armed Forces’ air defense capabilities, saying the national integrated air defense network is protecting 3700 sensitive sites in and outside the borders.

The air defense base is protecting 3700 sensitive and critical sites in the country and beyond the borders, Esmaeili said in a speech on Sunday, Tasnim News Agency reported.

“The air defense doctrine is based on 360-degree threat [detection and assessment] and therefore all our artillery, radar, missile, electronic surveillance and monitoring systems should be aware of each other and function in unison and an integrated network for a coherent defense.”

Back in April, Deputy Commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Lieutenant General Ali Reza Sabahifard had said that there has been a 1.5-fold increase in the number of air defense missile sites across the country over the past five years.

The number of radar stations have doubled in this period.
