A lawmaker said the principlist parliamentary faction will hold a meeting “probably next week” to discuss their objectives in the new Majlis that opened last week. Seyyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, a newly reelected principlist lawmaker, said in an interview with Tasnim News Agency that Resistance Economy, a set of policies to promote self-reliance, and the sixth development plan (2016-21) will be high on the agenda of the meeting. The legislator also said members of the presiding board of the faction, including its chairman, will be elected in the gathering. The first session of the new Majlis was held last Saturday. Principlist Ali Larijani was reelected speaker of the parliament.

The other major parliamentary faction, which belongs to the reformist-government backer coalition, has picked Mohammad Reza Aref as its chairman.  Aref is the head of the Reformist Policymaking Council and the top vote-getter in the recent Majlis elections in the capital Tehran.
