Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim Jabouri on Tuesday congratulated his Iranian counterpart, Ali Larijani, on his reelection as speaker of Iran’s new parliament.
In a phone conversation on Tuesday, Jabouri pointed to friendly ties between the two neighboring countries and underlined the necessity of having closer interaction between the two parliaments, Tasnim News Agency reported.
He urged consultation on bilateral and regional issues, including the campaign against terrorism.
Jabouri hoped that ties between the two sides would further expand during the term of Iran’s new parliament.
Larijani expressed confidence that bilateral relations would develop further and cooperation at regional and international levels would be boosted after the formation of inter-parliamentary and friendship groups.
Larijani, as the long-serving chairman of the Majlis, was chosen again by lawmakers as the speaker of the new parliament on Tuesday.
