No Reformist Candidate for Majlis Speakership

The Hope Faction, an alliance of reformists and government backers, will not nominate a candidate for the post of Majlis speaker in the election for the permanent presiding board of the assembly, which is expected on Wednesday, according to the spokesperson for the bloc. "Members of the faction will not field any candidate for the post of speaker," Mohammad Ali Vakili also told IRNA on Monday. Ali Larijani, who served as parliament speaker in the previous Majlis, was elected as the interim chairman of the assembly on Sunday.
