Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov held talks on latest efforts to implement a ceasefire and end bloodshed in war-stricken Syria.

During the meeting in Moscow, “a detailed exchange of views was held on a range of political settlement issues in Syria in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and the International Syria Support Group decisions, including in the context of the task of maintaining the cessation of hostilities and ensuring the inclusiveness of the intra-Syrian negotiating process in Geneva”, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The ministry added that Bogdanov and Amir-Abdollahian discussed a range of other issues on the regional agenda, including developments in Yemen, Libya, Iraq and the Palestinian territories, Sputnik reported.

Syria has been gripped by a war since March 2011 with various foreign-backed militant groups, including the self-styled Islamic State terrorist group, currently controlling parts of it.
