Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission plans to hold talks over the Foreign Ministry’s recent report on the implementation of the July 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, a lawmaker said. Speaking to Tasnim News Agency, Hossein Sobhaninia, a member of the commission, pointed to a report from the Foreign Ministry on the status of implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the official title of the nuclear accord] over the past three months, saying the report will be discussed in a meeting of the commission in early May. He said the report is to be read out in the commission’s meeting on May 1 with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif or a member of Iran’s negotiating team with P5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain and France, plus Germany) in attendance. Sobhaninia emphasized that after the meeting, the commission will submit a report on JCPOA’s implementation to the presiding board of the parliament. According to a law that requires the Iranian government to safeguard the nation’s achievements and nuclear rights, the parliamentary commission has a duty to monitor “the proper implementation” of the nuclear deal.
