The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Ground Force on Thursday successfully staged the third and final day of its massive military exercises in southeastern Iran.

The military drills codenamed Payambar-e Azam (the Great Prophet) concluded in a ceremony in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan with Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Commander of the IRGC Ground Force Lieutenant General Mohammad Pakpour in attendance.

During the war games, various operations were carried out by IRGC troops and volunteer forces from local tribes, including ambush and offensive operations against hypothetical enemy, Tasnim News Agency reported.

The drills were held in Saravan, Mirjaveh, Zahedan and elsewhere in Sistan-Baluchestan Province.

The purpose of the drills was to maintain preparedness for battle, display the power of forces and ensure security in the region through reliance on the local residents.

Since a few years ago, the IRGC has successfully employed a strategy to get advantage of local forces in Sistan-Baluchestan to ensure security in the region in the face of drug trafficking or the entry of terrorists and outlaws.
