Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ Ground Forces Lieutenant General Mohammad Pakpour announced on Sunday that a series of “security” drills codenamed Payambar-e-Azam (Great Prophet) will be held from Tuesday to Thursday in four regions of Iran. “The drills will be held in the southeast of the country, including parts of Sistan-Baluchestan Province, southern Kerman Province, southern parts of South Khorasan Province and east of Hormozgan Province,” Pakpour said in a press conference in Tehran, Tasnim News Agency reported. Pakpour noted that the war games are aimed at maintaining the preparedness of IRGC forces, displaying the country’s might and ensuring security. “The drills will be held in Saravan on the first day, at Mirjaveh on the second day and in Zahedan on the third day, when the commanders of Basij [volunteer forces] and all other participating units will attend the maneuvers,” he said. The IRGC Ground Forces’ Airborne Units recently incorporated in the force will have an “effective presence” in the war games, the commander added.
