Iran condemned Israel’s latest lawlessness to temporarily close the al-Aqsa Mosque to Muslim worshippers that has made it off limits to Palestinians.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Marzieh Afkham on Friday, condemned the move as “a violation of the sanctity” the historic mosque.

She warned against the ramifications of the dangerous move and called on Muslims and regional countries not to remain silent in the face of Tel Aviv’s criminal act and defend the mosque.

Israeli police, however, reopened the Mosque compound ahead of the weekly Friday prayers. Security forces had closed the compound on Thursday after a 32-year-old Palestinian Moataz Hejazi on October 29 made an attempt on the life of an American-born Israeli settler.
