Export Guarantee Fund of Iran and New Zealand Export Credit Office have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in co-insurance, reinsurance, credit assessment, claims prevention and recovery of debts that help exporters of both countries.
The MoU was exchanged between New Zealand’sForeign Minister Murray Stuart McCullyand his Iranian counterpart Mohammad JavadZarifin his trip to Wellington, EGFI Public RelationsOffice reported on Wednesday.
EGFI and NZECO decided to sign the MoUfor supporting trade and investment between the two countries, following the positive atmosphere created after the lifting of sanctions in January 16.
Seyyed Ali, EGFI’s chairman and CEO,said the entry of Iranian exporters to new markets such as New Zealand is of high importance and theMoU between EGFI and NZECO can facilitatetransactions.
This is a positive signal from New Zealand’s government to their banks for restarting operations with Iranian banks.
