The Defense Ministry on Thursday delivered domestically manufactured speedboats and other watercraft to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ Naval Force.

In a ceremony held in Bandar Abbas port in southern Iran, the IRGC Naval Force received dozens of Ashura and Zolfaqar speedboats as well as rescue boats, Tasnim News Agency reported. Defense Minister Lieutenant General Hossein Dehqan and IRGC Naval Force Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi were present at the ceremony. In an address, Dehqan underlined the need for boosting the combat and defense capabilities of the armed forces, saying that development of Iran’s naval power is aimed at establishing and maintaining peace, security and stability in the region. The defense minister further said Iran’s military doctrine has been shaped based on deterrence, stressing that the Islamic Republic’s military might poses no threat to any country and only aggressors should be scared of it. Noting that the speedboats and other vessels delivered to the IRGC have been designed and made by the Marine Industries Organization of the Defense Ministry, Dehqan praised the organization’s creativity, innovation and dynamism.
