22 People Indicted Over Saudi Embassy Attack

A senior judiciary official said 22 people have been officially charged over the attack against the Saudi Embassy in Tehran. Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi on Tuesday said the people will soon be sent to court over charges related to damaging the embassy, Press TV reported. The assaults on the embassy took place on Jan. 2 during demonstrations by angry protesters censuring Saudi Arabia's execution of eminent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr. Saudi Arabia executed the cleric along with 46 others, provoking international outrage, widespread condemnation and a serious escalation of tensions in the region.
