Majlis Speaker Mohammad Reza Bahonar on Sunday outlined the advantages of the Feb. 26 parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections, in which an alliance of government backers and reformists made major gains. "Firstly, political activists realized that no one benefits from turning their backs on the ballot box, and secondly, [members of] state institutions, including parliamentarians, members of the Assembly of Experts, the president and councilors, are elected through the ballot box, not by street protests," Mehr News Agency quoted Bahonar as saying.
