Ambassador in Baku Mohsen Pakaeen condemned a recent decision made by the (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council to label Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah a terrorist organization, saying the move was politically motivated and aimed at pleasing Israel. “The decision by certain Arab states to call Hezbollah a terrorist group is a politically motivated move and only makes Israel happy,” Tasnim News Agency on Friday quoted Pakaeen as saying. The diplomat praised the resistance of Hezbollah against the Zionist regime of Israel. Pakaeen pointed to Hezbollah’s extensive fight against terrorism in the Middle East, saying that Muslims across the globe support Hezbollah and acknowledge the movement’s role in preserving the dignity of the Muslim world. “Undermining Hezbollah is in line with the interests of terrorist groups that have been created by some western states and with the support of certain Arab countries,” he said. The Arab monarchies of the Persian Gulf on Wednesday declared Hezbollah movement, which has been fighting terrorist groups in Syria and the Israeli occupation, “a terrorist group”.
